Comunidad San Dimas - YO.C.AL. Youth Change Alternatives 

CSD - YO.C.AL. Parent and Teen Empowerment training has been created from a need in our community to have this type of service, also from our own experience, study, research in the line of work we do.

Our goal is to create awareness among families in the greater san francisco bay area of domestic violence, gang violence, substance abuse which lead to incarceration and early teen pregnancy; and to provide skills to prevent major consequences later in life which lead to cycles of violence and addictions.

Below you will find session presentations of what we do, primarily presented in Spanish. Some sessions are presented in English as well.

Session 1 Parenting styles and how to influence children & teens
Session 2 How to build self-esteem, courage and positive behavior
Session 3 How to raise responsible children & adolescents
Session 4 Redirecting children & teenagers misbehavior
Session 5 Building character, courage and self-esteem
Session 6 Using family meetings to resolve problems and teaching values
Session 7 Preparing children & teenagers to succeed in school
Session 8 How parents can speak to children and adolescents about sex
Session 9 Parent empowerment and leadership / graduation

Presented weekly in 2 1/2  hour sessions, participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of the 9 week course.

A Family Relationship program not just for Parents but for the Community

Who can attend?
Both parents including single & teen parents, social workers, case managers working with youth at risk, other professionals working with children & adolescents, elementary and high school teachers, students 12 years old and up, community leaders, child care providers.

Special guest speakers and collaborators who participate in presenting topics:
Carlos Fuentes, Omar Molina, Leycar Vellancillo, Jose Diaz, Alejandro Escobar.
